Tenant receives eviction notice despite paying rent on time, management refuses to accept proof and insists they're behind: ‘They are basically forcing me into eviction’

Imagine proving you paid your rent and still being told you're getting evicted.

A renter in Oregon was shocked to receive a final eviction warning claiming they had failed to pay rent, despite bank records showing every payment had cleared. After confronting the new property management, the situation only became more hostile, with staff making false claims and refusing to accept current rent. Now, the tenant fears an unjust eviction could permanently damage their rental history.

This story is crazy to me, and I don't know what I would do if I were in this situation. I'm a renter as well, so I understand how careful I have to be about making my monthly payments: I keep every receipt in a folder, and my roommate does the same. Having proof of everything is fundamental in cases like this, because you don't know what could happen in the future, even if you have the best relationship with your landlord today.

However, in this particular story, the renter claimed he paid rent every single month, and still somehow, management found a way of getting him evicted… sounds like something else is going on, and not only a fake lack of payment. He showed the receipts and every email that proved that he had been careful with the money, but the company still insists that he's behind and that he will be kicked out soon.

Something that I still don't understand quite well is about these options. What is something that he can do, besides showing the receipts, to prove that he's a good tenant and that there's no reason tho evicting from his home? Sounds even weirder when I write it, because there's just no motive for why the company would kick him out for something he didn't do.

He can hire a lawyer, but he would end up getting caught up in this whole long process, and it's so discouraging when you're doing everything fine, but still need to deal with things that you didn't commit.
